Strategic Planning

The most effective strategic planning processes are intentional, focused, methodical, disciplined and facilitated. They challenge, engage and inspire organizational leaders to stretch beyond the concerns of the moment and to shed light on truth through a long-lens perspective. InitiativeOne Strategic Planning Programs use proven frameworks to define and articulate a desired future and to ensure everyone in the organization is collectively aligned.

PHASE ONE: FOUNDATION AND DECISION FRAMEWORK
The first phase of the InitiativeOne Strategic Planning Process focuses on the WHO and the WHY of the organization. Companies that do not know and understand themselves are destined to struggle, and plans that are not authentic and organic to the company are destined to fail. This crucial process will clearly define what the desired future looks like (vision) and the non-negotiable values it will hold. We will facilitate the robust dialog and consensus necessary to bring clarity and commitment.

To ensure the Decision Framework is actionable and directional, this phase of the process will also identify a set of three to four critical stretch goals for the organization. Subsequent action plans and strategies will then center on achieving these three to five year goals.

PHASE TWO: UPDATE AND ASSESSMENT
When strategic plans get derailed, it is normally due to unforeseen evolutions in the work environment, changes in the market climate or a reversion to old patterns and behaviors. To ensure thorough implementation and effectiveness, InitiativeOne recommends scheduling quarterly Update and Assessment sessions for twelve to eighteen months following the completion of Phase One. This ongoing effort will reinforce the plan, keep all participants committed, foster a culture of positive accountability, and address any emerging roadblocks to success.
